AKRON — Michael J. Stopa, Jr., 80, of Akron, NY, passed away Wednesday (August 7, 2013) at Buffalo General Hospital.
He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 15, 1932, a son of the late Michael J. Stopa and Helen Malecki Stopa.
Mr. Stopa was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a crane operator for S.K.W. Alloy in Niagara Falls prior to his retirement. He enjoyed car rides and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife, Audrey Kron Stopa of Akron; children, Tammy (Randy) Walker, Karen Hylwa and Todd Stopa; step-children, Larry (Pat) Stabell, Edward Stabell, Michael Stabell, James (Nancy) Stabell, Kenneth Stabell and Thomas (Dawn) Stabell; sister, Marilyn Skorik; brother, Donald (Mary) Stopa; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stopa. Also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Michael was the step-father of the late Charles Stabell and Joseph Stabell; brother of the late Richard Stopa.
Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the J. Leonard McAndrew Funeral Home, 32 John St., Akron, NY 14001.
