- Margaret Mary Callara of Medina, NY, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. She was born in Lockport, NY on January 25, 1929, to George B. Barnes, Sr. and Adelle (Howard) Barnes. She married Mario F. Callara of Medina, NY on January 3, 1948. Margaret and Mario celebrated 69 years of marriage just before his passing in March of 2017.
Margaret was a stay at home mother, until her children were older. She worked at Lyndonville Canning Factory, Medina Pennysaver, and retired from Fisher-Price Toys, in Medina, NY.
Margaret loved canning, tending her flower garden, sewing, playing cards with the ladies of her card club, summer vacation trips to Florida and to other various points of interest. Margaret loved their camper and happy times spent with family and friends at various campgrounds. After their retirement, Margaret and Mario spent their winters in Hernando, Florida. She enjoyed attending mass at St. Mary's Church in Medina, NY and would always say her nightly rosary, praying for her family and friends. Margaret was always lovingly devoted to The Blessed Mother.
Margaret is survived by her children, Bonnie Callara, Richard Callara and Diane Callara Schnackel; her grandchildren, Joseph Callara and James Callara, Tracy (Jill Jones) Callara, Jill (Mark) Weston and Brooke (Ralph) Duryea, Courtney (Clay) Morgan, Zachary (Sara) Schnackel, Kayleigh (Zachary) Teachey; her great-grandchildren, Alexander J. Callara, Maya, Ayden and Annabelle Weston, Connor and Adelyn Duryea, Camden and Everly Morgan; her sister-in-law, Joy Barnes; her Godchild and niece, Ann (Blewett) Hall; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mario F. Callara, she is also preceded by her siblings, Catherine Freer, George B. Barnes, Jr., William Barnes, Charlotte Blewett, Donald Barnes, and Joseph Barnes.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, St. Mary's Church, Medina, celebrated by The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls. A private family committal will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary's Cemetery for her internment in the family columbarium.
