  Niagara Gazette - 7/27/1932 NORTH TONAWANDA. July 27- Fred Bishop. 31 years old, formerly of North Tonawanda, was yesterday turned over to authorities at Fort Niagara charged with being a deserter from the United States army. Bishop enlisted from Pittsburgh, Pa., several years ago and was assigned to Battery D 59th Artillery, stationed at Fort Mills, Philip- pine Islands. He was later transferred to Fortress Monroe, Virginia, from which camp he deserted several months ago, army of- ficers say. Officer Edward Kasbaum arrested Bishop and removed him to Fort Niagara yesterday. He will face a court martial.
