NIAGARA FALLS — Julia J. (Kolodziej) Bachorski, 99, passed away on August 22, 2013, at Schoellkopf Health Center, where she had been a resident for eight years.
Mrs. Bachorski lived in Niagara Falls most of her life, except for a brief period in the 1960s when she lived in Marietta, OH with her husband, Zenon Bachorski, who worked for Union Carbide. He predeceased her in death in 1985. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Mamon) Kolodziej. Julia spent most of her life as a housewife and stay at home mother. She was a devout Catholic who spent many hours praying for her family members. She celebrated her Polish heritage, especially the Christmas feast, Wigilia.
She is survived by her daughters, Alice (Michael) Smith of Niagara Falls, NY and Joanne (Jack) Zink of Hartselle, AL; sister, Mary Glemb; grandchildren, Shelia (David) Smouse and Steven (Shari) Cyphert. Also survived by three step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Rose Hines and Viola Demakis; brothers, Joseph and Anthony Kolodziej and infant brother, John.
Friends may call Sunday, August 25th, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319-24th St., cor. Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM on Monday, August 26th, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish (Prince of Peace site), 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Robert Hughson officiating. Burial following in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
