NIAGARA FALLS - Carl Anthony Imbert, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on May 31, 2014, at his residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice and his loving family. Born in Hazelton, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Koziol) Imbert.
Carl attended local schools in Hazelton and graduated from Hazel Township High School in 1942. During World War II, he served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer with the 761st Division from June 30, 1943, until his honorable discharge on March 5, 1946. Following his discharge, Carl moved to Niagara Falls, NY in 1947, where he met and married his devoted wife of 63 years, Beverly Mary (Burns) Imbert on June 17, 1950, at the former St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Beverly predeceased him on September 2, 2013.
Mr. Imbert was employed as a mechanic on the Lehigh Valley and Conrail Railroad for 38 years before retiring in September of 1986. He was a longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Church and an active member of St. Raphael's Parish, both located in Niagara Falls. In his leisure time, Carl enjoyed bike riding, reading and completing crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed camping with his family and friends in his younger years. Mr. Imbert will be remembered as a humble man, who was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a passionate caregiver to everyone around him, including his wife who he had taken special care of for many years.
Carl is survived by his three children, Colleen (Anthony) Cuccaro of Grand Island, NY, Rhonda (Neil Gruppo) Muto of the Town of Niagara, and Paul (Mindy Patton) Imbert of Kenmore, NY; three grandchildren, Vincent (Mary) Nicoletti of Grand Island, NY, Victor (Krissy) Muto of Lewiston, NY, and Laura (Shaun) Bielec of Niagara Falls, NY; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Nicoletti and Dylan Thomas Bielec. He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Veronica (late James) Morgan, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by his sister, Nellie (late Dan) Mazaika; one brother, Richard Imbert and his nephew, Ron Mazaika.
Mr. Imbert's family would like to extend a special thank you to Marilyn Swanson, Luther and Cindy Humphrey, Phyllis Humphrey, Shirley Peterson, Christine Palmeri, Nicole Laster and the staff of Niagara Hospice for all of their kindness, compassion and care.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 14th, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Raphael's Church, 3840 Macklem Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, with military honors. Memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Disease Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136; or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
