LOCKPORT-Funeral services
will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at
the Corwin Funeral Home in Newfane
for Raymond L. Byerly, 24,
of Lockport-Olcott Rd.
His father, Raymond H. Byerly,
returning home from church Friday
night, discovered his son
hanged in the garage. Coroner
George H. Muscato Jr. issued a
certificate of suicide.
Young Byerly, who had been
living with his wife at the home
of his parents for the last three
months, "was despondent," according
to the father.
Mr. Byerly, who was born Sept.
29, 1933, in Buffalo, had been a
punch press operator at Harrison
Radiator Division of General Motors
Corp. in Lockport.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Shirley E. Byerly; his parents, Raymond
and Viola Bixler Byerly; a
sister, Mrs. Erwin Strong, Appleton
and his grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Lester Morris, Buffalo and
Mr. and Mrs. Scott Bixler, Appleton.
The Rev. James Dersham, pastor'of
the Union Church, Ridgewood,
will officiate. Burial will
be in Wrights Corners Cemetery.

A verdict of suicide was issued
to the case of a Town of Newfane
man found hanged Friday evening
at 8:45 la the garage at his parents'
home.
He was Raymond Laverne Byerly,
24, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond H. Byerly. Lockport-Olcott
Rd. A note, addressed to
"Dad" and signed "Ray," read
"This is the way it has to be."
The parents told Dr. George
H. Muscato Jr., county coroner,
their son had been despondent
since Wednesday when he visited
his estranged wife, Shirley, in
Buffalo. They said he
rted over unpaid bills. Or,
to signed a certificate of suicide
by strangulation.
The parents told Cpl. Robert
Klein and Trooper Fred H. Yeackel
of the Wright's Corners State
Police Sub-station they went to
church at 7:30 Friday evening,
The father found his son hanging
by a rope from garage rafters
when he opened the garage to
store his car.
The youth was born in Buffalo,
the son of Raymond H. and Viola
Bixter Byerly. He

Home, 27 N. Main St., Newfane,,
