LOCKPORT —
Horace I. Wolcott, Jr. passed away, suddenly, on September 29, 2013. Born in Niagara Falls on December 17, 1925, he was the son of Horace and Dorothy (Fix) Wolcott, Sr.
Horace served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 in the 355th Infantry Division and the 89th Tank Division - "Rolling W". While serving, he earned the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, EAME Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star. Horace was a policeman for the City of Lockport for 27 years, retiring as Captain in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lockport, a life-member of the VFW, Knights of Columbus #0754 4th Degree and 3rd Degree #319. Horace enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Wolcott, on January 29, 2005; and his daughter-in-law, Mary Wolcott.
Horace is survived by his children, Horace (Becky) Wolcott IV, Timothy Wolcott, both of Lockport, Thomas (Rebeca Jalil) Wolcott of Florida, Robin Wolcott, Kathleen (Stanley) Knight, Rita Wolcott, all of Lockport, Teresa (Vincent) LaSota of Tennessee; grandfather of fifteen, great-grandfather of twenty-two and great-great grandfather of two; brother of Edna Parker Peach, and the late Robert, Carl, George, Earl, Clyde, Ivy Wolcott, Winifred Corisla, Dorothy Patterson, and Florence Fix. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, October 4th from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5th at 10 AM in All Saints Parish at St. Mary's Church, 5 Saxton St., Lockport. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorial donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated.
