- Frances S. Bruno, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Niagara Hospice House. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Andrea and Maria S. (Cumbo) Ligammari. Frances was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, where she attended local schools. On May 29, 1965, she married her loving husband, Salvatore “Sal” Bruno. Frances began working at Loblaw’s Grocery Store for many years and later at the Permanent Savings Bank prior to her retirement in 1988. She was a longtime member of the Frontier Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary, the I.S.D.A. Power City Lodge 158 and the Elks Lodge.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. She also enjoyed crocheting and cooking, but above all loved spending time with her family. In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dennis) Pysniak and Jerlanda (Kevin) Mathias; and was predeceased by one daughter, Carol A. Ardus. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Frances (Patrick) Nowak, Gina (Richard) Stanton of Las Vegas, Christopher Pysniak, Giana Bruno, Elizabeth (Sean) LaFountain, Chelsea Bruno; her great-grandchildren, Heather Maines of Florida, Patrick Nowak, Rachel Nowak, Natalie Nowak, Mark Nowak, Lucas Nowak, Silas LaFountain, Jax Hook, Ellie Hook, Giavana Stanton of Las Vegas and Liliana Stanton of Las Vegas; two siblings Nicholas (late Betty) Ligammari and Andrew (Bev) Ligammari of Florida; as well as many loving family members including her nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the sister-in-law of Mary Anne (late Earl) Forbes of California, Carolyn (George) Strott of Florida , Joseph (Toni) Bruno of Montana, Larry Bruno of Florida, Francine Bruno of Dunkirk, NY, Thomas Bruno of California, John (Karen) Bruno of Hamburg, NY and the late Rosalie (John) Bruxius. Frances was predeceased by five siblings, Alfred (late Lee) Ligammari, Joseph (Connie) Ligammari, Stella (Bob) Stott, Anna (William) Julian and Rosie (Alfred) Albion. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Niagara Hospice House for the outstanding care and compassion given to their wife, mother and grandmother during her final days.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 7 – 9 P.M. and Tuesday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Wednesday, April 26th at 9:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. John de LaSalle Church, 8627 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls.
