Salvatore J. Bruno
On June 29, 2022, we said our final goodbyes to our beloved father and grandfather. He left this earth surrounded by an abundance of love. Sal was born on September 16, 1934 to the late Joseph and Flora (Ventry) Bruno. He was the third oldest of 9 children.
In 1965, he fell in love and married Frances (Ligammari) Bruno and together they raised 3 beautiful daughters who gave him 18 grandchildren who adored him. Mrs. Bruno predeceased him on April 22, 2017. Sal worked at Loblaws and later retired from the Niagara Falls Board of Education. He was member of the Italian Sons and Daughters, Frontier Fire Hall, LaSalle Sportsman’s Club and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, camping, bocce, playing cards and LCR. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Dennis) Pysniak and Jerlanda (Kevin) Mathies; his grandchildren, Frances (Patrick) Nowak, Gina (Rick) Stanton, Christopher Pysniak, Giana (Anthony) Hook, Elizabeth “Tink” (Sean) LaFountain, and Annabelle Rose Bruno; his great-grandchildren, Heather Maines, Patrick, Rachael, Natalia, Marcus, US Army (Sierra), Patrick, Lucas, Twinkle Toes, Silas, Jax, Ellie, Gia and Lily; His siblings, Caroline (late George) Strott, Mary Anne (late Earl) Forbes, Joseph (late Antoinette) Bruno, Larry (Lori) Bruno, Francine Bruno, Thomas Bruno, John (Karen) Bruno as well as many loving family members including his nieces, nephews and cousins. Sal was predeceased by one daughter, Carol A. Ardus and his sister, Rosalie (John) Bruxius.
The family would like to thank VNA and Niagara Hospice for the outstanding care he received during the last couple of months. A special thank you to his nieces Janet and Murphy (MR) for all of their support during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Sal’s Mass of Christian Burial at will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
