Jose M. Garcia, age 80, of Ransomville, died unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Jose was born on August 14, 1933 in the Town of Saltillo in Coahuila, Mexico, the son of the late Jesus and Maria (Amador) Garcia.
He was an U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 to his honorable discharge in 1955 and the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Jose played in bands in Mexico and San Antonio, TX and it was through this love of music that he met the love of his life, Anne May Krizan, while stationed at Fort Niagara. They were married on April 7, 1956 and they moved to Ransomville in 1961. Jose received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Niagara County Community College. He was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Niagara Falls, NY for 25 years, retiring in 1987 as a Senior Cost Accountant.
Jose was a communicant of Immaculate Conception RC Church in Ransomville. He and Anne raised a very musical family and he loved performing for his family and friends. He enjoyed working in his yard, antiquing, and attending garage sales as well as playing cards, practicing calligraphy, and wood carving. Jose loved making his homemade salsa and was called "The Salsa Guy" by his family and friends.
He was deeply in love with Anne who predeceased him in 2011. Ever devoted to her, Jose lovingly cared for her throughout her eight-year illness. He is survived by his children, Jose M. Garcia, Jr. (Jolee Stone) of Sanford, FL, Victor Garcia of Sanborn, and Cara (Kevin) Krzyzanowski of Strongsville, OH; his grandchildren, Jason, David, and Joseph Garcia, Kelly and Kevin Krzyzanowski, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Isabel Garcia; a sister, Lilia Flores; and a brother, Victor Armando Garcia, both of Whittier, CA. He was predeceased by a brother, Jesus Garcia.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7th at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Conception RC Church, 4671 Townline Rd. (Rte. 429) Ransomville, with the Rev. Joseph Badding officiating. (Please assemble at Church). Burial with Military Honors will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Military Rd., Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13270-3049.
