Oscar J. O'Connell, 45, of
Miami Beach, Florida died
Sunday (Oct. 27, 1968) in New
Veterans Hospital.
Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
he is the son of the late Oscar
Sr. and Ada Henning O'Connell.
Mr. O'Connell was a graduate
of the Niagara Falls High
School in 1939, and joined the
Marines in 1941 where he served
as a Corporal in the South
Pacific and the Marshall Islands.
He was the recipient of
the Bronze Star for the loss of a
leg on the Island of Iwo Jima.
He also received the Gold Star.
He was employed by Moore
Business Forms as a stereotypist
for 17 years and was a former
employe of the Niagara
Falls Gazette.
He was employed by the
Miami Herald in Florida prior
to his death.
Mr. O'Connell is survived by
one son, Daniel and a grandson;
one sister Mrs. Neal (Ella
Marie) Bloomstien, all of
Miami.
Funeral Services will be from
the Ried Lowe Funeral Home
in Miami.
