One of this city's most popular
bartenders, John E. Bodkin died
yesterday afternoon in Mt. St.
Mary's Hospital at the age of 62.
A bartender of the pre-prohibtion
era, he had been employed at the
Bon Ora Hotel at the time of his
death.
A native of Holly, he came to
this city in 1902 He helped organize,
draw up the charter and was
a past president of the local bartenders'
union and was a member
of Niagara Falls Lodge 346,
BPOE for 30 years.
Among his other places of employment
was Burnside's Turf
Lounge. At one time he owned
and operated Bodkin's Grill in
3rd St..
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cecilia
Bodkin; a daughter, Mrs.
George Trader, and two sons, Edward
J. and William P. Bodkin, all
of this city, and two step-children,
Mrs. Lee Knapp, Dearborn, Mich.,
and Edward Wolfe, Buffalo and a
sister, Mrs. Margaret Schwartz,
this city; five grandchildren also
survive.
Memorial services will be held
by the Elks tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
and funeral services are scheduled
for the Rhoney Funeral Home,
1124 Ontario Ave., Saturday at
8:15 a.m. and at St. Mary's Church
at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in
Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Avenue. Saturday at 8:15 a.m.
and at St. Mary's Church at 8:00
a.m. Interment will be in Gate
of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial scrvicen
will be conducted by the
B. P. O. E. Lodge No. 348 at the
funeral home Friday evening at 7:30
p.m.
