- ALBERT S. HERSTEK, age 72 of Wheatfield, NY, was called unexpectedly to his heavenly home on July 2, 2018 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on May 14, 1946, son of the late Walter and Helen (Maciaz) Herstek Sr. He was united in marriage to Darla (Severance) Herstek, on June 25, 1966. Darla preceded him on February 17, 2005. Albert is a United States Army veteran, and served in Korea during the VietNam war. He was employed as a fabricator at Elmar Industries, Depew, NY, until his retirement. Albert was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1411, and the American Legion -Wheatfield Post 1451.
Survivors include three children, Kari (Richard) Vinson, Kim (Gordon) Chasey, and R.J. Herstek; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephanie, Emily, and Darcee; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Tyler; four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Noah, Jacob, and Ellie; and a sister in law, Mae Sigmann.
Also predeceased by a brother, Walter Herstek Jr.; and many brothers and sisters in law.
Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Monday (July 9) from noon- 3:00 p.m. Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home, concluding with military honors in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield.
