William G. Bolents, Jr.

TOWN OF NIAGARA -
William G. Bolents, Jr., 65, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late William G. and Mary Belle (Clark) Bolents, Sr.
William moved to the Niagara Falls are as a baby with his family. He attended local schools including Prince of Peace Elementary School, Bishop Duffy High School and Niagara University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree. While at Niagara University he served in their R.O.T.C. Program (Reserve Officer Training Corp) and later in the United States Army Reserves. On July 14, 1972, he married Deborah A. (Ross) Bolents at the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Bill worked as a carpenter with Laborers Local 91 while he was attending college. Afterwards he was employed as a lab technician for the Niagara Falls Sewer Department at which time he also served as a union steward for the Steel Workers Union. Bill went on to work for the Niagara Falls Water Board for thirty five years, working his way up to becoming the Director of Administrative Technical Services at the time of his retirement.
William was a man of deep faith. He was an active member of the Wheatfield Community Church and former member of the Walnut Avenue Christian Church where he served on their Board of Trustees. He also served as a board member of several organizations including the; former Niagara Christian Academy School Board, and Christ the King Preparatory Academy. Bill also served on the Town of Niagara Assessment Review Board, and was a great advocate for the effect development would have on the residents of the Town of Niagara. In the early 1980s, he coached the Sammy's Pizzeria team in the Hyde Park Majors Little League. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, and especially liked hunting and fishing, and for many years was a season ticket holder for both the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. He also enjoyed listening to jazz music, jogging around Hyde Park with his dog, drives in the country and going to area auto and air shows. Most of all Bill enjoyed relaxing around bonfires in the summer with his family, especially his son-in-law, Mike.
In addition to his wife of forty-one years, Mr. Bolents is survived by his two children, Ashleigh (Michael) Schwallie of Tonawanda, NY and Jonathan D. Bolents of the Town of Niagara, NY; two sisters, Gail (Al) Buffone of Niagara Falls, NY and Brenda (Richard) Splendido of Ransomville, NY; one brother, Clark (Cheryl) Bolents of Ransomville, NY; his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Ross of the Town of Niagara, NY; his best buddy and friend, Theodore; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3-8 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Friday, February 7th at 9:45 AM, followed at 10:30 AM at Forestview Church of God, 1250 Saunders Settlement Road, Lewiston, NY with Rev. Linda Badame officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Michael J.
