- Phoenix, AZ - Samuel Aswad, 93, passed away quietly of natural causes in hospice with family present on May 5, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ. He was a longtime resident of Grand Island, NY and was predeceased by his wife, Pat, in 1987.
Sam was an Army veteran of WWII decorated for bravery and wounded in combat during the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from the University of Buffalo and worked at Bell Aircraft until 1965 when he founded his own engineering firm, Autosamation, Inc. Sam retired to Arizona in 1998 and was an active volunteer at the V.A., Recovery Health and the United Way.
Sam loved his family and friends. He is survived by a brother Alfred; two daughters, Noreen and Patricia; a son, Frederick; three grandchildren, Carolyn, Mary and Jonathan; and one great-grandchild, Henry Samuel.
A family service will be held at Whitehaven Cemetery on Grand Island at a date to be announced.
