NIAGARA FALLS -
Sarah Ann (Crawley) Snyder, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Monday, March 10, 2014 in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was 95. She was born in Niagara Falls on February 25, 1919, the daughter of the late George Henry and Margaret C. (Coleman) Crawley. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
She and her husband, Frederick W. Snyder were married in St. Peter's Episcopal Church on July 19, 1945 and they remained happily married for 53 years until his passing in 1998. During the 1940's, Mrs. Snyder worked for the Carborundum Company as its office clerk for four years and then retired to enjoy her time raising her family. Mrs. Snyder was a former member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and Epiphany Episcopal Church. She served on the PTA at Cleveland Avenue School for three years, was a room mother for grades 1-6 and served as Cub Scout mother for five years, and she enjoyed reading, sewing and cooking, but her greatest joy was her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Frederick R. (Bonnie Schul) Snyder of Lockport and Robert J. (Annette Davies) Snyder of Niagara Falls; four grandchildren, Matthew A. Snyder (Heather Ramsey) of Olmsted Falls, OH, Mark A. Snyder (Karina Babayeva) of Carmel, IN, Nathaniel R. Snyder of Niagara Falls and Miranda A. Ashby (David) of Niagara Falls. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Christian Ashby, and Zachary, Collin, David and Ella Snyder; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by six siblings, Margaret K. Snyder, Emmet Crawley, and George, Charlie, Edward Crawley and Helen Williams.
Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11 AM. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. Donations may be made in Mrs. Snyder's name to Meals on Wheels, 1920-18th St., Niagara Falls, NY 14305.
