Notes - Lockport: Velva C. VanBuren, 91, passed away May 11, 2022. She was born June 27, 1930 in Akron a daughter of the Ervin and Elida (Brewer) Criswell. Velva helped on the family farm and had milked 250 cows by herself once a day for many years. Mrs. VanBuren loved flowers, decorating for Christmas, and enjoyed cooking and baking for family get togethers during the holidays. At one time, she drove a team of horses on a two row cultivator, growing vegitables for the family and public market.
She was predeceased by sons, Jerry VanBuren and Daryl Hoste.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Walter; children, Karen (Don) Gibb, Sheila Bruckner, Denise Dubois, Beverly (Dan) Smith, Verne VanBuren, Sharlyn Kennedy; brother, Marshall (Rose) Criswell; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St. Gasport on Thursday, May 19, from 4:00-8:00 where Velva’s funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00am. Interment in Royalton Union Cemetery.
