Monday is actually the day they will
mark their 65th wedding anniversary,
but today Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Manz,
1803 16th St., will"be surrounded by~
members of their families.
The former Katherine Borks of
Ottawa, Ont., and Andrew Manz were
married Aug. 14, 1907, in Trinity
Lutheran Church, South Avenue,
Niagara Falls.
Mr. Manz, now retired, was
associated with Moore Business
Forms, Carbon Department, during
his working days.
But just because he's retired, don't
think he's slowed down too much. Not
Mr. Manz. "I bowl," he said happily.
"Sometimes four days a week;
sometimes five. My average is 142.
That's not too bad for an old man, is
it?" he asked. He bowls with the
Retired Mens Service Club.
And he works as a volunteer on the
coffee cart at Memorial Medical
Center each Thursday.
That's not all. "We love to play
cards," says Mr. Manz. "My wife and I
belong to the Sanborhites - senior
citizens and we play euchre a lot."
. How did they come to join the Sanborn
club? "Well, we play cards with
friends down there alot. They wanted
us to join. For a while I didn't think we
should . . . that's for old people. I
always felt I was too young."
The anniversary party will be held at
the home of their son, Gordon Manz,
Gasport. The couple has one granddaughter,
Mrs. Clayton (Ann)
Peterson; and one greatgranddaughter,
Pamela Ann Peterson,
also Gasport.
Mrs. Manz is one of the 13 children in
her family. Mr. Manz is the oldest of
six, all living. He has three sisters,
Mrs. Ann Pattengell, this city; Mrs.
Bertha Boyd, Niagara Falls, Ont.; and
Mrs. Dorothy Bays, St. Cloud, Fla.;
and two brothers, Walter and Carl
Manz, both of this city.
