REMEMBER the title, "a real
homebody?" Here's a candidate
that would qualify for such a title.
Mrs. Joseph Bos, a petite
woman, has a quiet air of contentment
and gracefulness about
her. Asked how she spends her
days, "she smiled and replied. "1
can always find something to do
around here."
That "something" r e c e n t ly
included painting and redecorating
"around here." This time it was
the sunny living room at 7713 St.
Joseph Road/Town of Niagara.
A lemon twist wall color provides
a good background for the
c o n t e m p o r a r y fur niture
upholstered in shades of green and,
accented with orange accessories.
A free-style mosaic top ^coffee
table conforms to the^shape of
the large sectional sofa.
The table, hand^made by her
"son-in-law, Henry Brummer, was.
a welcome' Christmas gift last
year.
MRS. BOS, the former Peggy
Ryan, is a native of Niagara Falls
and spent most of her childhood
in the Niagara Avenue area. She
graduated fro Sacred Heart
Schoo, Stella Niagara Seinary
and Kelly's Business School. Her
father, Walter Ryan, owned and
operated his own dairy here for
many years.
Peggy does not drive and must
depend on others for transporta-
tion anywhere. But she is not a
person to feel isolated by this.
"Time doesn't hang heavy on
my hands," she says firmly. "I
really enjoy my home and the
yard."
With a small woods at the rear
of the property she can watch,
thrugh picture windows while
wild rabbits hop around the yard
and birds build nests in the
evergreens.
However, she isn't a complete
homebody, never going out. She
likes nothing better than shopping
with friends, "roaming through
the stores to see what they have."
The midi is not for her, though,
suited her fine. It did not have
to be shortened.
SHE HAS BEEN an active
member of the Stella Niagara
Alumni Association ever since
graduation in 1938. A board member
this year, she was treasurer
for two years. She has always
worked on the fund raising drives
which provide things for the
school, "a new floor for the gym
or whatever is needed."
"One of the newer members"
of the Town of Niagara Lioness
Club, she is treasurer this year.
Laughing, she commented. "I
think I'm elected because of Joe
being in the bank."
Her husband is manager of the
Town of Niagara Branch, Marine
Midland Bank-Western. t
Peggy was quick to 'emphasize
thai she has no trouble balancing
t h e organization's checkbook,
herself.
She always looks forward to the
Lioness members' visits to the
Batavia School for the Blind. The
club sponsors a boy and- girl and
supplies them with clothing and
"other things they need."

PEGGY MET her husband while
they both were students at Kelly's
Business School. Their first date
was a roller skating party. "He
couldn't skate and I went around
holding him up," she remembers.
He proposed on April 1 and still
teases her by saying he was only
fooling "but 1 took him up on
it." This past Oct. 26 they celebrated
their 30th anniversary at
dinner as guests-of their daughter,
Jorene Brummer and her husband,
of Newfane.
Jorene. who tam'.ht fifth grade
at Nevada Avenue School for three
years, now teaches sixth grade
in Newfane.
A married son, Walter Bos, of
Grand Island, has two boys, Chris,
5. and Kevin, 3. Chris spends a
weekend with his grandparents
now and then and Peggy enjoys
taking the boys on amusement
rides in the summer time.
CHRISTMAS this year will be
very special for the Bos family.
Staff Sgt. Richard Bos, now stationed
at Vandenburg Air Force
Base, will be discharged Dec. 11
after four years of service- and
the family will be together again.
Also joining the celebration will
be Peggy's parents, who how live
at 709 93rd St., and her husband's
mother, Mrs. Josephine Bos, 434
23rd St.
Opening presents after Midnight
Mass on Christmas Eve is a
family tradition and Christmas
Day is spent "enjoying the
family."
She obviously enjoyed her
family when the children were
small, too. Her blue eyes glowed
when she talked of picnics at
Whirlpool, Devil's Hole, Goat
Island and Hyde Park. She "got
soaked every time in water
balloon fights but that was part
of the fun of it."
AN AVID FAN of most spectator
sports, she likes to attend
hockey and basketball games or
watch them on television. World
Series baseball games rank first
with her. --
Other wives will sympathize
when she blurts out that football
games on television "just about
drive me up the wall." Her
definite stand on =that subject
moderates as she explains she
would . rather attend them in
person.
Her favorite relaxation is reading
and "attempting" crossword
i. JLUZSlesJn_books. and, newspapers.
Inviting friends and neighbors in
for coffee is another favorite;
pasttime.
Although she is not a "joiner,"
she has thought about joining a
study group because she reads
so much - "most, any type of
book and condensed novels in
magazines."
