- Gary R. ''Papa Smurf'' Moreland, 75, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at home under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Lockport, NY on June 15, 1943 he was the son of the late Thomas J. (Betty) Moreland and the late Patricia (Harry) Payne. Gary enjoyed fishing,gardening and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathleen (Printup) Moreland; daughter, Nicole Colucci-Moreland; grandchildren, Shawna, Hailey, Khloe, Jeremiah, Thomas and Haven; sisters, Ronnie (Dan) Johnson and Mary (John) Apolito, brothers, Tom (Tina) Moreland, Frank Payne and Delaire (Yvonne) Payne. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his grandson, Sebastian; granddaughter, Carmen J., brother, Stanley Moreland and sister, Joan Cam.
Friends may call Monday, February 11th from 5-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor of Welch Ave, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 12th with Pastor Matthew Kofahl officiating. Burial following in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
