John M. (Jake) Moran, 68. of
422 Prospect St.,, who had serv-
ed as umpire in many Lockport
Little League and softball gam-
es in past years,, died Thursday
in Lockport Memorial Hospital.
He had suffered an apparent
heart attack at his home.
Born Nov. 1, 1901 in Lockport,
Mr. Moran was the sn of Pat-
rick and Bridget Hopkins Mor-
an. A lifelong resident, he had
been employed as a truck driv-
er for the Lockport Park De-
partment before his retirement
three years ago.
He had been a member of St.
Patrick's Roman Catholic
Church and its Holy Name So-
ciety, the Exempt Volunteer
Firemen's Association, and the
Knights of Columbus. He was a
member of the North Ends
Football team as a young man.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs
Helen G. Bowen Moran; one
sister, Mrs. Edward (Margar-
et) Sharkey of Lockport; four
brothers, Joseph, Harry. James
and Michael Moran, all of Lockport:
and several nieces and
nephews.
Friends may call at Taylor &
Reynolds Funeral Home. Niagara
and N. Transit Sts., Lockpart,
after 7 p.m. today. Funeral
Semites will be held there at
5:31 a.m. Monday. Services will
also be held at St. Patricks
Church at 10 a.m. The Rev. Thomas
J. Moran of Buffalo, a nephew
of the deceased, will officiate
at a funeral mass. The
Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
Sunday.
Burial will be in Cold Spring
Cemetery.
