NIAGARA FALLS -
Donald J. Insalaco, 88 years old, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May10th while at home. He was born in Niagara Falls, the son of Charles and Helen (Binkley) Insalaco.
He was self-employed as a watchmaker for many years after learning his trade at Bradley University's School of Horology. His friendliness, expertise and work ethic later lead him through several management positions at Reeds Jewelers where he enjoyed a career of 29 years. A Bronze Star Medal was earned while serving his country honorably during WWII. Hobbies took over after retirement, including fixing anything, hand-crafting clocks, hand built tools, and woodworking. Then came the computer and his curiosity was endless. His computer skills were amazing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
He is survived by his children, Donald (Claudia) Insalaco of Marysville, MI, Michael (Sissy) Insalaco of Niagara Falls, Karen (Brian) Kephart of Erie, CO; grandchildren, Brett, Michael, John, LeeAnne, Daniel, Lauren; and three great-granddaughters; one sister, Marylou Braun of Pompano, FL; one brother, Charles Insalaco of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister-in-law, Jackalyn Shear of Rochester, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Donald married June D. Shear in 1952. She predeceased him in 1995 after 43 wonderful years of marriage. He was also predeceased by his son, Kevin Insalaco, in 1987; and Meriam Tedesco, his loving companion of ten years.
Friends may call at LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, on Saturday after 12 Noon, where services will be held at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY.
