Clergyman and Son Killed in Auto Crash
A former Lockport resident and his teenage son were fatally injured Saturday (Nov 3, 1966) in the collision of his auto and a tractor-trailer truck near Balaton, Minn. Dead are the Rev. Walter Lindke, 49, and his son Donald, 17. Another passenger in the car, unidentified by the pastor's family in the area, was also killed. The son of Frederick and Anna Lindke, the Rev. Lindke was born in Wolcottsville, where he received his early education. He began his study for the ministry at Houghton College and was graduated from Concordia College in Springfield, Ill. Mr. Lindke served churches in Washington D.C., Missouri and Illinois before going to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bolton two years ago. He formerly lived in Barker and Lockport, and at one time was employed by the Upson Company. Surviving are his widow, Bertha, three sons and a daughter, James, Thomas, Allan and Lois, all of Balaton; Also his mother, Mrs. Anna Lindke of Wolcottsville, and two sisters,Mrs. Sylvia Winslow and Mrs. Lillian Ziegler of Wolcottsville. Funeral services will be held a t 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Balaton, Minn.
