HENRYHANK J.KNIZELewiston, Henry Hank J. Knize, age 90 of Lewiston NY, died Friday March 14, 2008 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Residence in Lewiston.Mr. Knize was born May 22, 1917 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY, the son of the late James and Helen (Sedlak) Knize. After graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1935 he went to work for Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls. He retired from there as a machinist in 1978. Hank was a WW II Army veteran, serving from 1941 to 1945, when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sgt. He served with the 1st Ordinance Company and was the recipient of four Bronze Service Stars for the Rome Arno, Central Europe, Rhineland, and Southern France Campaigns. On December 25, 1942 he married Mary J. (Melancon) Knize and they had resided in Lewiston since 1950.Hank loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with his brother, Jim. Hank was able to repair just about anything. In his retirement, he especially enjoyed assembling and repairing antique lamps and clocks and refinishing furniture with his wife.He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Linda (James) Knize-Harper of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, Kenneth Knize of North Tonawanda, Niagara County, NY; a granddaughter, Eileen Harper; two sisters, Frances "Beck" (Kenneth) Young of Naples, FL and Shirley (Arthur) Elia of Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Agnes Steinbrenner, Dorothy Waldron, and Pauline Sullivan; and a brother, James Knize. He will be sadly missed by several caregivers, especially Donna Lengen, Kim Jones, and Eric Mitchell.Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth and Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 20, at 12:00 noon in funeral home, with the Rev. John Timmerman officiating. Burial will be private in Dickersonville Cemetery, Lewiston.Memorials may be made to the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. #1 Ambulance Fund, 145 N. 6th St. P.O.
