Weddings
Hewitt-Winters
A very pretty wedding-took place
Saturday afternoon. August 20, at 4
o'clock, when Miss Viola Ruth Winters,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
H. Winters, of Sixteenth street,
became the bride of Russell Wlllard
Hewitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Hewitt, of Military road. The ceremony
took place at St. Paul's Evangelical
Lutheran church, the Rev.
G. H. Ziemer officiating. The church
was adorned with large baskets of
gladioli and palms.
The bride, who was given in marriage
by he father, was lovely in a
floor length white silk marquisette
gown made with small round collar
and puffed sleeves. The fitted band
around the waist, collar and full
skirt were appllqued with a white
silk leaf design. She wore a large
white straw hat with long white
streamers and carried a colonial
bouquet of white gardenias, roses
and lilles-of-the-valley.
The bride was attended by her
sister, Mrs. Leonard R. Parsons, as
matron of honor, attired in floorlength
peach silk marquisette with
shirred square neckline, puffed
sleeves and full skirt. She wore a
large natural leghorn hat with powder
blue streamers and matching
blue slippers and carried a colonial
bouquet of Talisman roses and blue
larkspur.
The groom was attended by Leon-
ard R. Parsons as best man and the
ushers were Oscar Neumann and
Robert Robertson.
The bride's mother was gowned in
navy blue lace. With it she wore a
navy blue felt hat. navy accessories
and a corsage of pink roses and blue
larkspar.
The bridegroom's mother was attired
in a black velvet dress with
matching hat and accessories. Her
corsage consisted of yellow roses and
gypsophila.
After the ceremony a dinner and
reception were held at the Prospect
House. The bridal table, set with 33
covers, was decorated with a wedding
cake, candelabra with white
tapers and vases of snapdragons.
Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt left on a trip
to Canada and will stay at Winde-
mere House, Lake Rosseau, Uskoka
region. the bride wore a dark blue
gabardine suit with a white net
blouse, a miniature navy blue felt
hat and white accessories.
Before her marriage, Mrs. Hewitt
was feted at a bathroom shower
given by Mrs. Leonard r. Parsons
and a variety shower given by Mrs.
Roy Hewitt. A picnic supper party
was given by Mr. and Mrs. William
P. Read in honor of Mr. and Mrs.
Hewitt.
