John J. "Jack" Dowling

LEWISTON - John J. "Jack" Dowling, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, in Mount St. Mary's Hospital.
He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on June 29, 1932, the son of the late James F. and Dorothy (Bale) Dowling.
Jack graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in 1950 and served in the US Navy, from 1952 until 1954. He was a journeyman electrician with IBEW Local 237, for 58 years, retiring in 1991.
Jack enjoyed building stock cars as well as restoring antique cars. He was an avid model airplane builder and belonged to the RC Sunday Flyers.
Jack helped rebuild a 1929 Fleet biplane with the Niagara Frontier Vintage group and was a member of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edna M. (Wilson) Dowling; one son, John (Beth) Dowling of Niagara Falls, NY; two daughters, Deborah (Jeffrey) McCoy of Lewiston, NY and Cheryl (Rick) Parkhill of Youngstown, NY; six grandchildren, Tiffany and Jen McCoy, Christopher and Becky Dowling, Christine and April Parkhill; one great-grandson, Caleb Verost. Jack was the brother of the late James Dowling.
The family will be present on Monday from 5-8 PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 AM, with Msgr. David G. LiPuma officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
