Barbara M. (McGovern) Carella, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born in Niagara Falls on March 18, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Bednarz) McGovern. Barbara was a bank teller for 25 years at M&T Bank until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Carella of Niagara Falls, NY and three sons, John Carella of Niagara Falls, NY, Vincent Carella of Miami, FL, Leonard Carella of Niagara Falls, NY; six granddaughters, Christina and Taylor Mort, Heather, April, Jayden and Jordan Carella; one sister, Andrea Demita of Utah and one brother, Raymond McGovern of Niagara Falls, NY. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor McDonald.
There is NO PRIOR visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 140 Rainbow Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Judith Burrows officiating. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, will take place at the convenience of the family. Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association of WNY, 2805 Wehrle Drive, Suite 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.
