Anthony J. (Tony) Sciarrino, 88, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away after a short illness on July 18, 2014.
Tony was born in Niagara Falls, NY to Salvatore (Sam) Sciarrino and Rose (Morale) Sciarrino. He attended Trott Vocational H.S. and was a longtime employee of Hooker Chemical, Dobie Foundry and DuPont. He was also the owner of Atlas Welding and installed many of the wrought iron railings you still see in North Tonawanda today.
He married Catherine Barberio in 1949, who predeceased him in November 1998. They lived in North Tonawanda until 1966.
Tony served in the U.S. Army and was a proud and longtime member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 22 and Local 250. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a volunteer fireman in North Tonawanda.
In 1966 he moved with his family to Westlake Village, CA, where he resided for 34 years. The Sciarrino's were among the first 20 families to move into the new development. While in California, he was a general construction contractor in heating and cooling for Brinderson Corporation at the LAX Marriott Hotel, Westwood V.A. Hospital and L.A. County Jail, among many Los Angeles landmarks. He was a member of St. Mel's Catholic Church and the Bella Vita Club of Westlake Village.
Tony was an avid bowler and a fan of the NY Yankees and the LA Lakers. He later moved to Las Vegas where he enjoyed dancing and bingo.
He is survived by sons, Terry (Debra) Sciarrino of Westlake Village, CA; Tom (Toom) Sciarrino of Foster City, CA; and Dave (Laura) Sciarrino of Auburn, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer, Matt, Devin, Marc and Sunny. In addition, he is survived by brother Louis (Patty) Sciarrino of Niagara Falls, NY and sister Marian Hawkins of Las Vegas, NV, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was interred with his wife, Catherine, at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Westlake Village, CA.
