- Hope Seager Obituary
In Loving Memory of Hope Seager, Our Beautiful Mother
June 27, 1940 – December 30, 2025
Our Mom passed away peacefully at home on December 30, 2025. Born in Richwood, West
Virginia, on June 27, 1940, she moved to Lockport, New York, at the age of 13, where she met the
love of her life, our Dad the late Dan Seager. They married in 1958, built a beautiful life together, and
raised us 4 children.
Her Mother was Susie McLaughlin and Father was Clifford G. McElwain. She worked and retired
after 20 years of service to General Motors. She was a prior member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the
Olcott Fire Hall, a member of the Olcott Yacht Club, and one of the founding volunteers at the Olcott
Carousel Park where she continued to serve for many years. Mom and Dad boated for many, many
years on our “Wee Hope”. She also enjoyed bowling, bingo and loved the thrill of a good casino and
scratcher. She also traveled winters to Florida for over 20 years.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Eugene, Robert, David, Samuel McElwain, and Patty Miller
(Forrest Miller). Our Mom’s legacy will live on through all of her family and friends. Her children:
Mike Seager (Beth), Susan Seager (Aaron Schank), Daniel Seager, and Pamela Seager; her
grandchildren: Michael Seager, Melissa Marsh, Travis Marsh, Rayann Seager (Ricky Williams),
Kelsey McDermott (Carl), and Danielle Pearce; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who
adored her.
Our Mom was one of a kind. She lived a beautiful life. She was a beautiful soul—kind spirited,
sweet, and loved by all who knew her. Her warmth and laughter will be deeply missed, but all the
memories will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched.
Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY on Saturday, January 10, 2026 form 2-4pm where a memorial service will be held at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Olcott Beach Carousel Park in Hope's name. https://www.olcottbeachcarouselpark.org/members/donate/
Rest in peace, Mom. We love you always.
