Martha May Mathew, 85, Sebring, Fla.
There will be a rosary service May 31 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home
Martha May Mathew, 85, of Sebring, Florida, died May 17, 2006 in her residence.
She was born January 20, 1921 in Wolcott to the late Lawrence and Lillian (Raider) Troxel. She married Raymond Mathew on March 29, 1941; he died in October of 1998.
Mathew and her husband lived in Wolcott for 40 years where he farmed and she took care of their 12 children. She and her husband later moved to Rensselaer where they owned/operated the North Side Tavern prior to moving to Sebring, Fla. in 1984. She was a member of the St. Catherine Catholic Church in Sebring and was a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington. She enjoyed square dancing in her younger years and loved to read.
Surviving are sons Tommy (Nancy) Mathew, Monticello, Dale (Shirley) Mathew, Reynolds, Mack (Debra) Mathew, Lafayette, Nick Mathew, Indianapolis, Eric (Monica) Mathew, Kokomo; daughters Mary Poindexter, Lafayette, Judy Mathew, Sebring, Fla., Karon (Phillip) Lynd, Ft. Worth, Texas, Sharon (Doc) Reinhold, Monticello, Vickey (Paul) Sietsma, Lafayette, Lesa Lou Solar, Sebring, Fla., and Kimmie Dee (Irvin) Deneen, Sebring, Fla.; a sister, Jean Tucker, Lafayette; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren whom she loved very much.
Preceding her in death are three sisters, Alice (Nesius) Schuh, Lloyd Mathew and Innie Fisher.
A rosary service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, visitation to follow from 5-8 p.m. at the Foster-Clapper Funeral Home, Wolcott. Graveside rites will be held Thursday, June 1 at the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Rensselaer, with Rev. Thomas Fox officiating.
Memorials may be made in her memory to the St. Elizabeth Hospice Program (1415 Salem St. Suite 202 W. Lafayette, Indiana 47904).
