- Barbara Ann (Bakula) Dobrasz
March 14, 1945 - May 7, 2022
Barbara Ann (Bakula) Dobrasz, lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at the age of 77. She was born in Niagara Falls on March 14, 1945, daughter of the late Stanley and Bertha (Rajczak) Bakula. Barbara attended local schools and graduated from LaSalle Senior High School. Afterwards, she went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Keuka College with a Minor in Mathematics, and then her Master of Arts degree in English from Niagara University. She was New York State Certified to teach both English and Mathematics. She taught throughout the Niagara Falls City School District for 37 years. Most of her tenure was at LaSalle Senior High School and she retired from Niagara Falls High School. Barbara married Robert Dobrasz in 1968 and they remained happily married for 53 years until her passing.
Mrs. Dobrasz was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old movies, cooking, crosswords, and sudoku puzzles. Barbara took great pride in her homemade cheesecake. During her years at LaSalle Senior High School, she was known as a Basketball Super Fan. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Robert and four children: Stanley (Christine) Dobrasz, Andrew Dobrasz, Alexis Dobrasz, and Amanda (Andrew) Castilon. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Susan, Rebecca, David, Stephen and Michael Dobrasz, Benton, Theodore, Sebastian and Gabriel Keltner, and Garrett and Eloise Castilon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Matthew Alexander Dobrasz.
Friends may call at LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Wednesday, May 11 from 3-8 pm; Immediately following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 8 pm. Burial will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lewiston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s name to Keuka College or a charity of one’s choice.
