- Velma (nee Keleman) Brenon, age 92, of Amherst, died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Wells House at Beechwood Homes in Amherst. Born April 26, 1924 in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (nee Gogolack) Keleman. Along with her husband, Edward Brenon, they founded and operated E. Brenon Topsoil in Amherst.
She was the wife of 70 years of the late Edward L. Brenon, who died August 15, 2012; mother of David Brenon of Kenmore, Carol (late Hal) Jacobi of Amherst, Patricia (Edward) Fiegl of Lockport, Pamela (Ronald Wachala) Brenon of Amherst, and the late Jacqueline Hitzges; mother-in-law of Peter Hitzges of Amherst; and grandmother of Denise (Thomas) Bruno of Springfield, Virginia, Jill (Shawn) McQuaid of
Pendleton, New York, Kevin (Kim) Jacobi of Boston, New York, William (Lisa) Hitzges of Amherst, New York, Kenneth Hitzges of Wheatfield, New York, and Coty (Kelsey Higgins) Granger of Boynton, Florida. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-5 PM on Sunday only at the HAMP FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Monday at the Ascension Chapel Mausoleum at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 4000 Elmwood Avenue, Town of Tonawanda; the Rev. Suresh Yarmarthy officiating. Friends invited. If desired, memorials to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227, are preferred by the family.
