PHELPS - Laverne H. Peake,
79, of Rte. 96, Phelps, died yesterday
(Aug. 21) after an extended
illness.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Dewey
Funeral Home, 81 E. Main St.,
Phelps.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Monday from the funeral home,
with the Rev. Gary Hakes of the
United Church of Phelps, officiating.
Burial will be in West Haven
Cemetery.
Mr. Peake was a native of Phelps
all his life. He was the son of the
late Stephen and Edith Brignall
Peake. He had worked for the Empire
State Pickling Company for
many years, then became a selfemployed
contractor until hif
retirement in 1971. Later, he was an
assessor for the town of Phelps. He
was a member of the Phelps Fire
Dept. and the Covered Bridge
Society.
Surviving are his wife, Helen;
three sons: Carl and Paul of Phelps,
and Harry of Minneapolis, Minn.;
one daughter, Gloria Fisher of
Phelps; 10 grandchildren, and one
great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to the
Phelps Fire Department.
