  Niagara Gazette - 8/2/1960 A former blacksmith who was a longtime resident of Niagara Falls has died in Los Angeles, Calif. He was Clifford S. Packer, who at the time of his death was in his llate 80s. Word was received here Monday of Mr. Packer's death o Saturday (July 27, 1960) by the sister of his wife, Mrs. Jacob M. Schweitzer. Mr. Packer was born in England and came as a boy to Canada and almost immediate- ly to this city. As a youth he worked with the local blacksmith, Peter Thurecht, and later opened his own blacksmith shop in Canada. He continued in the wor until his retirement 15 years ago, when he moved to Los Angeles. Surviving is his wife, Lulu Packer. Burial was in California.
