- Raymond A. Beiter passed away March 30, 2017 in Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Pendleton April 3, 1924 he was the son of Vincent and Elizabeth (Windnagle) Beiter. Ray served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WW II being awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. Ray worked for Wurlitzer in time study then at Ditmer Gear for three years and for seventeen years as an insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life Insurance in Tonawanda. He served as the County Clerk from 1976 to 1990, was Pendleton Town Supervisor for seventeen years and County Legislator for ten years. Ray also served on the County Sewar & Water Board being instrumental in getting sewars in Pendleton and was past president of the County Clerk Association. He was an active member of Good Shepherd RC Church where he served as an usher, the Tuscarora Club for 25 years, a member of Pendleton Lions Club, Tonawanda Exchange Club, and the Wendelville Volunteer Fire Co. since 1942. Ray enjoyed golfing, playing euchred and traveling with his wife Elizabeth "Betty Lou" (Ward) Beiter who predeceased Ray November 13, 2016.
Ray is survived by his children Michael (David Getman) Beiter and Kathleen Routhier; grandfather of Cori (Larry) Herbst; great grandfather of Sara, Alyssa, Emily, and Jacob; brother of Rita Spoth, Vincent Beiter, Joseph Beiter and late Anthony Beiter, Earl Beiter, Arnold Beiter, Arlene Goerss, and Elizabeth Swogier; also survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10 AM in Good Shepherd RC Church, Tonawanda Creek Road. Memorial donations to Niagara Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
