- Eugene L. Strassburg, 68, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Wilfred and June (Beemer) Strassburg.
Eugene was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves until his honorable discharge on January 23, 1972. On November 5, 1971 he married Joanne (Scozzafava) Strassburg at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Eugene was employed by Carbon Graphite in Niagara Falls and retired in 2001 after thirty five years of service.
Eugene was an automobile enthusiast and especially enjoyed his Chevy Corvette “Black Velvet”. He also enjoyed golfing, going to O.T.B. for horse racing, and was an expert marksman. A true “warrior in life” he overcame obstacles that life presented and will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was loved by all. Most important to Eugene was his loving family whom he especially enjoyed spending time with.
In addition to his beloved wife of forty three years, Eugene is survived by his dear daughters Stephanie (Anthony) Cecconi and Megan (Christopher) Muth; two grandchildren who he adored, Nathan Muth and Ellie Muth; his brothers and sisters Janice Strassburg, Patricia (Robert) Derba, Wilfred “Junior” (Diana) Strassburg, Duane “Bob” (Marlene) Strassburg, Roger Strassburg, Adrian “Lou” Strassburg, Karen (Robert) Brawn and Kristine Lanoye and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 27th from 3 - 8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304. Private funeral service and entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 331 Alberta Drive, Amherst, NY 14226 or to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY 14228.
