- George Edward (Dee-Dee) Mattoon Jr. was a beloved grandfather, father, and husband during his incredible 62 years of life. He passed away peacefully in the late hours of Sunday, April 9, 2023.
George was born in 1961 to George and Jeanette Mattoon in Ransomville, NY. George enjoyed working on cars and there is nothing he could not fix on a car. He loved spending his winters hunting, his summers fishing, and watching the races on TV or at Ransomville Speedway on the weekends and spent much of his time singing his favorite songs on his personal Karaoke machine. None of these things compared to his love for his family. In the last year George found joy in building puzzles and model cars with his kids and grandkids. George loved being a dad to his kids and a Papa to his grandkids. You could always find him with one of the grandkids playing, hanging out, and even napping. There is nothing he would not do for his family, and everything he did was for them. He will always be remembered as an amazing father, an incredible Papa, and a wonderful husband.
George is survived by his wife Tammy Mattoon who he spent 33 years with, and their marriage would be a bright example of selfless love for their children. George is survived by his 8 children George (Britney) Mattoon, Alex (Kayla) Garcia, Janelle Mattoon, Crystal (Jay) Garcia, Tiffany Garcia, Walter (Courtney) Garcia, Candace (Marcus) Allen, and Matthew (Desmond) Mattoon. He is also survived by his 20 grandkids and is preceded by his brother Richard Mattoon, his father George Mattoon Sr, and mother Jeanette Mattoon. He leaves behind his surviving siblings Stacy, Tammy, Peggy, Michelle, Karen, and Kelly and many amazing nieces and nephews.
George had a gift of making everyone feel like family. He constantly made it a point to check in on people and make sure they were taken care of. Though his children are listed above, there are so many people that looked at George like a father in their life. His friends describe him as kind, loving, caring, honest, and stubborn. He will be missed more than words can say. We love you George and can never thank you enough for everything!
There is NO PRIOR visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.
