JoAnne (nee Hermanson) MacNeil, 78, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on November 15, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born on March 7, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Hermanson and the late Jeanette (nee Corah) (late James) Collins. On September 23, 1989, JoAnne married James P. MacNeil, NYS Trooper, (Ret.). He predeceased her on March 28, 2019.
JoAnne was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, attended local schools and earned her cosmetologist certificate. She was primarily a loving homemaker. JoAnne enjoyed traveling with her late husband and loved spending quality time with her grandchildren.
JoAnne is survived by children, James (Diane Roy) Barnes, Paul (Denise Moore) Barnes, Paul (Diane) MacNeil, David (Jennifer Reed) MacNeil, Kathy (Joseph Goraj) Shaw and Michael (Lisa) MacNeil and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving sister to Donna (late Thomas) Wojcik, Dawn (Richard) Ely, Timothy (Sharyn) Collins, Carol Hermanson, Nancy Hermanson and Gordon Hermanson. Also surviving is her former spouse, Harold (Sue) Barnes and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, JoAnne was predeceased by a daughter, Laura Fantrazo.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, November 22nd, from 3-7 p.m., at the OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (716-297-9007). Private inurnment will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation.
