The Sunday edition of the Syracuse
Herald gave the following account
of the marriage of the J.H.S.,
football coach, Clarence R. Buchwald,
and Miss Helen C. Hadley
at Seneca Falls, N. Y.
"On Aug. 12, in the First Presbyterian
church, Seneca Falls, Miss
Helen Cornstalk Hadley. daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Daniel
Hadley, 112 State street, Seneca
Falls, and Clarence Robert Buchwald,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
William Buchwald of 541 West
Utica street, Buffalo, were united
in marriage. The service was read
by Dean William H. Powers of
Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse university,
assisted by the Rev. Robert
D. Youngs. Palms and two
large baskets of white gladioli and
white candles decorated the church.
A reception followed the ceremony
in the armitage.
"Mrs. Ward B. Manchester, Jr.,
of Cambridge, HI., was the matron
of honor and the bridesmaids were
Miss Anne McCIaskey and Miss
Dorothy Harriman of Syracuse.
Theodore Detenbeck of Buffalo
was the best man, and Howard D.
Hadley, Jr., Stanton Hemingway of
Newburgh; Alfred Ball of Jamaica,
L I., and Philip Johnson of Jamestown,
acted as ushers.
"The bride wore an ivory moire
gown made with a full train and
long-pointed sleeves. She wore an
ivory tulle veil falling from a handmade
Belgium lace cap. Her bouquet
was of Johanna Hill roses and
baby breath.
"The matron of honor wore a
gown of lace and tulle, Queen
Elisabeth blue, and'earried a large
garden hat filled with pink roses
and delphinium. She wore matching
flowers in her hair. The
bridesmaids' gowns were identical
In pink. Mrs. Hadley, the bride's
mother, wore a navy blue lace
Jacket dress worn with pink accessories,
and a douquet of pink
rosebuds. Mrs. Buchwald. the bridegroom's
mother, wore a navy blue
chiffon dress with white accessories.
She had a bouquet of gardenias.
"The couple went to the Catsklll
mountains and New York city on a
wedding trip. For traveling, the
bride wore a black matalasse crepe

accessories. She had a bouquet
of gardenias. After Sept. 1, they
will live in Jamestown.
"The bride was graduated from
the College of Fine Arts, Syracuse
university Jn 1937. and is affiliated
with Alpha Phi sorority. Mr. Buchwald
is an alumnus of Syracuse
university, class of 1937, school of
physical education. He was a member
of Beta Theta PI fraternity,
and a member of the Varsity football
team. During the last year
he was assistant football coach and
member of the faculty of Jamestown
High school. This fall, he
will be head coach, assistant vocational
director, and member*of the
faculty of Jamestown High school.
