Richard G. Lewis, 59, of The Colony, TX, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born on August 12, 1956, in Buffalo to the late George H. and Jane V. (nee Szczes) Lewis.
A Niagara Falls native, Richard grew up in the Gill Creek area and graduated from Bishop Duffy High School, where he played basketball and baseball, in 1974. He went on to play both sports with a grant-in-aid scholarship to Dowling College, in Oakdale, Long Island, graduating with a bachelor degree in accounting.
Not long after graduation he moved to the Dallas, TX, area and settled down in The Colony. He worked in accounting for a company which provided lighting and sound for many of the musical tours in the United States and became friends with some of the celebrities. He also worked security
for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Stars at Texas Stadium and Reunion Arena before retiring. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians and enjoyed umpiring top level softball tournaments all over Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
He married the former Cyndi Paden; and is survived by four daughters, Krystal (Todd) Foster, Victoria (Eric) Haggard, Cyndi (Justin) McFeeters, and Vanessa Lewis; one son, Richard (Kayla) Lewis, all residents of the Dallas area; five grandchildren, Cole Brewer, Dylan and Allyson
Haggard, Ethan McFeeters and Xoe Lewis; one brother, Robert (Elaine) Lewis of Niagara Falls; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for 4 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 7000 Morning Star Drive, The Colony, TX.
