Joseph Pirk, age 76, of North Tonawanda, died June 13, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his family, under the care of hospice. Joseph was born in Hungary and came to the United States in 1957. He was employed at Tonawanda Iron for 17 years until it closed. For the last 35 years he and his wife, Margaret owned and operated Joes Budapest Café. Margaret continues to operate the establishment. Joseph was a member of the Hungarian Social Club, Dom Polski Social Club and the Loyal Order of Moose.Beloved husband of Margaret Pirk; father of Georgina (Richard) Meisenburg and Joseph (Kathleen) Pirk, both of North Tonawanda; grandfather of Jason, Jerred and Jacob Meisenburg, Paul and Elizabeth Pirk; great-grandfather of Jordan Meisenburg. He was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.Friends may call at the Fretthold Funeral Home Inc., 1241 Oliver St., at Ward Rd., in North Tonawanda on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. If so desired, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice.
