- Donald W. Buddenhagen, 79, of Vestal, died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Wednesday, February 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ann Buddenhagen, Vestal; a daughter, Paula J. Gilbert, and dear friend, Geoffrey Rubin, Elmira; a son and daughter-in-law, Brent W. and Harris Buddenhagen, Clarksville, Tenn.; a grandson, Cooper E. Gilbert, Syracuse, N.Y.; two sisters, Edith Newenhouse, Honesdale, Pa., and Irene Turner, Sussex, N.J.; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and very supportive brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Kathy Dibble, Vestal and Lola and Harry Thorpe, N.C. Budd was a retired NY Telephone Company employee, retiring in 1978 after 34 years of service and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was also an active volunteer in his community, delivering books and taking cancer patients for treatments. Memorial services will be held Saturday 1 p.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St., Endicott with Reverend Mike Willis, pastor of his church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Saturday afternoon from 12:15 p.m. until service time at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal, N.Y. 13850, or to the charity of one's choice.
