- Laurence W. Neumann of Ransomville, NY, entered into the presence of His glorious Lord Jesus on May 18, 2016, under the care of Hospice. He was born on August 9, 1913 on Shelter Island, NY. Laurence was the son of the late William G. and Anna Mae Neumann. He was also the faithful husband of Lillian for over 76 years.
'Larry' was educated at Youngstown High School and briefly attended Niagara University. He served his country in the US Navy during WW II on the island of Guam. After the Navy, he worked for Pedro Motors for seven years. He then labored for twenty-two years for the US Postal Service as a rural letter carrier in Ransomville until his retirement. During his long retirement of forty years, he kept busy as an avid woodsman, loving to be out amidst the trees and using his chainsaw that had gladly replaced his old cross-cut saw. 'Larry' was a longtime, dedicated member of the Ransomville Free Methodist Church and the Niagara Frontier Bible Church. He was also treasurer for the Ransomville Rural Retirees for ten years.
His favorite vacation spot, for over forty years, was Lake Mazinaw in Cloyne, Ontario, where he enjoyed fishing with his dad and the wonderful smell of the Canadian pines that surrounded the camp.
He was predeceased by his sister, Grace; his brother, William (Bill); and sister-in-law, Rala, his niece, Cynthia Neumann; his nephew, John Neumann, and his son-in-law, Kenneth Hockenberry. He is survived by his children, Neil (Cindy), David (Carol), Marcia Hockenberry, Richard (JoAnn), Mark (Lonnie), Kelly (Mark) Ritchey; along with his 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; and by his one nephew, James Neumann.
There will be no prior visitation, but a memorial service will be held at the Niagara Frontier Bible Church, 5287 Bronson Drive, Lewiston, NY, on June 12th at 4:00 PM with Pastors Ron Logan, Richard Gilbert and Tom Broderick officiating. Any memorial donations may be made out to Niagara Frontier Bible Church, 5287 Bronson Drive, Lewiston, NY 14092 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094
