- Dora Baker Life story
Dora J. (Coder) Baker, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, under the compassionate care of Niagara Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 13, 1958, in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Donald Coder and Nancy (Bennett) Coder. On December 24, 1981, Dora married Edwin L. Baker, and together they shared a devoted partnership that spanned 44 cherished years.
Dora was a woman of boundless love and vibrant spirit, who held her family and friends dear with unwavering devotion. Her passion for the Buffalo Bills and Sabres shone brightly, as she wore her team gear with pride and cheered them on with infectious enthusiasm. An avid reader, Dora delighted in the enchanting realms of sci-fi and fantasy novels, often losing herself in their adventures for hours on end.
Dora is survived by her beloved husband, Edwin L. Baker; her children, Sean (Alexandra) Baker of Niagara Falls, NY, and Laurie (Charles) Harrington of Clanton, AL; her grandchildren, Kelsie (Will) Gunter, Kristopher Pecoraro, Alanah Baker, Dominic Baker, and Jaxon Baker; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kyleigh, Evah, AliceRaye, and Emeris; her siblings, Lawrence (Barbara) Sherman, Stephan Sherman, Donald Sherman, Pamela (Everett) Hewitt, and Margaret (Donald) Hall; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her son, Charles “Chaz” J. Bootes III; her sisters, Cheryl Perry and Madalyn (Jamie) Licht; and her parents, Donald and Nancy (Bennett) Coder.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mount St. Mary’s, Specifically Darlene and Lucas, for the care and respect they provided to our beautiful mother in her final days on earth. We can never repay you for your kindness and understanding.
All services will be private. Dora’s family has entrusted her care to the Goodlander family, OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME AND NIAGARA COUNTY CREMATION CARE (716-297-9007).
