- Virginia (Grenzy) Ceretto, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on August 14, 2022 at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Clara (Ellmire) Grenzy; and beloved wife of the late Dominic John Ceretto who she married on July 2, 1949 in St. Joseph Church.
Virginia was raised in Niagara Falls where she attended local schools. She was a 38-year member of the LaSalle Senior Center where she volunteered for the Dynaband exercise program and as a lunch server. For her dedication to the senior community, she was named as the Niagara County Senior Citizen of the Year in 2018.
Virginia loved to spend time with her grandchildren and make pizza for them. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, gardening, crocheting and traveling. She also enjoyed staying active with her friends by walking at the Niagara Falls Outlet Mall.
Virginia is survived by her children, John (Beth) Ceretto, Virginia (Clayton) Cutler and Joseph (Ruth) Ceretto; her grandchildren, Annemarie (Bret) McDermitt, John Ceretto II, Vincent (Sonya) Ceretto, Theresa (Dan) Behm, Clayton Cutler II, Kevin Cutler, Jason (Hailey) Cutler, Arianna Ceretto and Carissa Ceretto; her great-grandchildren, Ava McDermitt, Clara McDermitt, Eli McDermitt, Sai Ceretto, Henley Cutler and Peter Behm; her sister, Dorothy Wisniewski; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Dominic, on May 20, 2012. She is also predeceased by her siblings, Mary Shocky, Joan Koert and Ernest Grenzy, Jr.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 6 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by Virginia’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Vincent De Paul Parish at St. Leo’s Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.
