James L. "Jimmy" Delaney passed away peacefully with family by his side on September 7, 2016, in Niagara Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. James was born in Lockport on November 2, 1938 to J. Leslie Delaney and E. Marie "Dolly" Stoll Delaney. The youngest of 4 children, Jim was predeceased by his oldest sister Mary Chetney. He is survived by sisters Sally Rog and Noreen (Leo) Borner. He attended catholic schools his whole life and proudly graduated from DeSales Catholic School in 1956. Jim married Mary Carol Magin on September 13, 1958 at St. Patrick's RC Church. Jim worked in the grocery industry for many years and recently retired last year from Modern Disposal, as a security guard. Fuzzy, as he was affectionately called by his friends, belonged to the Knights of Columbus Counsel #319 as well as the Screwball Club. Jim was an avid bowler and especially enjoyed his Sportsman Three Man League. Jim and Mary had three daughters. He was such a devoted and loving father who gave his love and devotion unconditionally. Jim had 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than watching them achieve all their accomplishments. He never missed a school function, sporting event or dance recital. Jim especially loved attending all the kids sports games, even traveling to PA for every game at Bradford High School. His latest joy came just last week when he watched his youngest grandson, Austen, (Friday night under the lights) opening football game at St. Lawrence University. He shared his love of sports with all of his grandchildren and his favorite teams were the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Notre Dame. Jim was fortunate enough to attend two games at Notre Dame.
