- Mary Carol Delaney Obituary
Mary Carol (Magin) Delaney passed away in Niagara Hospice House on November 24, 2025. She was surrounded by three generations of her family and is now at peace. Mary was born on Christmas Day, 1937 to Charles A. and Elizabeth (Dehlinger) Magin in Buffalo, NY, the second oldest of four children. Mary was predeceased by all her siblings, brothers James (Suzanne) and Thomas Magin, and sister Suzanne Donovan. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Michaeleen Magin and Noreen Borner. She was also predecease by two cherished grandsons, Stefan J. Arlington and Adam F. Lauricella whom she missed dearly.
Mary attended elementary Catholic schools and then proudly graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1957. She married James L. Delaney Jr on September 13, 1958 at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Lockport. They were together until he passed away in 2016. Together they had three daughters. Mary worked at the telephone company until her daughters were born. She was a stay at home mom until they were all in school. Mary then went back to work in the grocery industry for many years. She worked in daycare, affectionally known as “Miss Mary” and also at a card store. Her most rewarding job came in her golden years, being a lunch monitor at Lockport High School. She made a great deal of lasting friendships with staff and students alike. Their mutual love and admiration gave Mary a purpose. She was thrilled to have had her two oldest great grandchildren as two of her “students”. Her family will be ever grateful to LHS.
Mary enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, and babysitting both her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved Notre Dame College football and her Buffalo Bills. Mary shared her passion of those teams with her family. She was a devoted Mother & Nonnie to her family. She had nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Nothing brought her greater joy than watching all of them achieve their goals. She never missed a sporting event or school function as well as dance recitals and karate graduations. She also loved traveling with her family.
Mary is survived by her three daughters Beth (Dan) Holler, Patti (Frank) Arlington, and Karen (Rick) Lauricella; loving grandchildren David Bowes Jr, Erin E. Bowes, Kristen (Michael) Lokey, Tyler (Nikki) Arlington, Erik (Emily) Lauricella, Ashley (Michael) Scarcello, and Austen Lauricella; great grandchildren Brennan and Brylie Bowes; Otice, Lukas, Mika and Nora Lokey; Dylan Arlington; and Sebastian and Ryker Arlington. Mary is also survived by several cousins, many nieces and nephews, and life long friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Monday, December 1st from 4-7 PM at Prudden And Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 2nd at 10 AM at All Saints Parish, 76 Church St., Lockport. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
