- Helen M. (Pollock) McCollum, 88, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Niagara Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha (Keller) Pollock.
Helen was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local Schools. She was employed at Moore Business Forms and Nabisco Shredded Wheat Co. both in Niagara Falls. From the early 1970’s until the mid 1980’s she owned and operated Tranquility Acres, a home care agency for elderly and mentally challenged individuals. Helen was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed collecting antique dolls and writing poetry. She and her husband liked traveling and spending winters in Florida. Helen also liked gardening, playing cards and reading.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of fifty-nine years Clyde B. ‘Sonny’ McCollum on November 17, 2006. She is survived by her son Greg (Josephine) McCollum, four grandchildren Jeanette (Keith) Fulton, Mark (Regina) McCollum, Benjamin McCollum and Jason (Jisset) McCollum, five great grandchildren Mikayla, Jaiden, Mark, Joseph and Rhianna and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one son Mark McCollum, Sr., three sisters Dolly (late Albert) Freeman, Isabel (late John) Brown, Madge (late John) Wiesser and one brother George Pollock.
There will be no prior visitation. Private interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY will be held at the convenience of the family.
