- Michael A. DeMarco, Ret. NFPD, 86, passed away on July 3, 2021 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Carl and Josephine (Cirrito) DeMarco.
On May 5, 1956, Mike married JoAnn L. (Galbo) DeMarco at Our Lady of Lebanon Church. Mike served in the United States Air Force from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1962. Mike served with the Niagara Falls Police Department for 31 years, retiring in 1994, working as a patrolman, the Vice Detail, and ultimately retiring from the Traffic Division.
Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Cristoforo Colombo Society, and the Cataract Lodge. Mike enjoyed fishing, swimming, and playing cards (especially Euchre). He loved hosting backyard parties. Above all, his family was his life and he cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, Michael is survived by his children, Michael (Bridget) DeMarco, Richard (Yvonne) DeMarco, and Christopher (Judi) DeMarco; his grandchildren, Nick DeMarco (Erica Shamrock), Michael (Laura) DeMarco, Ashley (Vinny) Orsi, Jessica DeMarco (Steve Stanley), Jennifer (Anthony) Insinna, Richie DeMarco (Alexis Moreland), Bre (Kyle) Rhoads, D.J. (Ashley) DeMarco, Brooke DeMarco (Ryan Clark) and Maggie DeMarco (Kyle DeClerk); his great-grandchildren, Abby, Valyn, Michael, Jordanna, Morgan, Charlee, and Piper, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins and his beloved dogs, Rocky and Bella. He was predeceased by his siblings, Joseph (Virginia) DeMarco and Carol DeMarco.
The family will receive the public from 10 – 10:30 on Thursday, July 8 at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301, where Michael’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM. Entombment with Military Honors at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, https://www.stjude.org/donate/.
