- BUNCE - Ruth Joan (nee Frohne) Went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Her devoted and loving husband of 65 years, Boyd, was by her side. They had five children: Boyd Jesse (Debra), Paul Phillip (Kim), Keith Edward (Bee Bee), Robin Marie (Rick) and Thomas Gordon (Amy); ten grandchildren: Heather and Joseph; Paul and Eric; Ricky, James, Cynthia and Sara; Thomas and Matthew; and nine great-grandchildren: Everett and Wyatt; Makayla and Madelyn Rose; Cheyenne and London; Adam and Joshua; and Ryan. Ruth was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul Frohne and Viola (Schlundt) Frohne and was born in Buffalo, NY in 1930. She had two older brothers, Richard and the late Robert. When she was eight years old they moved to Elmira, NY, where her father was the Reverend of The German Evangelical and Reformed Church. She attended school #8, Beecher Junior High and the Elmira Free Academy. After graduation she worked at Barker, Rose and Kimball in Accounts Payable. After moving to Wayland, NY, she worked at Gunlocke's. She met Boyd at a square dance in Perkinsville, NY, and it was love at first sight. They were married four months later. A few years later they moved to Buffalo, NY, where Boyd worked for General Motors for 34 years. They lived in the Town of Tonawanda for 30 years and belonged to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Ruth was a cook and waitress until she joined Westwood Pharmaceuticals where she worked in various departments. Two years after starting at Westwood, Bristol Myers took over Westwood and she worked for them until she retired 24 years later. They traveled to Italy once and the Bahamas and Caribbean Islands four times. After buying a motor home they were full time RV'ers and traveled up and down the East coast of Florida and out West for ten months. In 1996 they bought a home and settled in Florida. In 2013, after enjoying the wonderful lifestyle and weather in Florida for 16 years, they moved back to the Buffalo area because of Ruth's health. They wanted to be near their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 25 William St. (Between Morgan and Broad Sts.) City of Tonawanda. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 11 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 7416 Campbell Blvd. in Wendelville. Friends invited. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice
